Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen (Japanese: Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen) is a Game Boy Advance game from the third generation of the Pokémon series, developed by GAME FREAK, developed and published by Nintendo, is a remake of the series' Pokémon Red and Green released in 1996. It is also the first remake of a game in the series. Both games were released in Japan in January 2004, and in North America and Europe in September and October of the same year.

Like the main series of Pokémon games, the game takes place from a third-person perspective. Players take on the role of Pokémon trainers, adventure in the fictional world and capture fictional creatures called Pokémon, make them thrive through training and exchange, and use them in turn-based battles. The two games have similar plots, but are independent of each other and can be played alone, or they can communicate with each other using connecting lines to complete the game goal of collecting all the Pokémon in the Pokédex.

The game received mostly positive reviews, with an overall score of 81% on Metacritic. Most critics praised the game for adding new features while maintaining tradition, as well as better graphics and music; however, some critics felt that the game lacked variety and was no different from the earlier "Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire". "FireRed/LeafGreen" has sold a total of 12 million copies worldwide.

Game content

Like all "Pokémon" main series role-playing games, "FireRed/LeafGreen" is a third-person perspective game, with a third-person bird's-eye perspective, and three main screens: map, battle screen, and directory menu. In the directory menu, players can adjust the arrangement of the team, check the items in the backpack, change game settings, and view the Pokédex or save files. When players randomly encounter wild Pokémon or engage in battle with non-player characters (NPCs) in the game, the screen will jump to a turn-based battle screen. During battle, players can command Pokémon to use moves to fight, use props, replace Pokémon, or escape (escape is not allowed in battles with non-player characters). Each Pokémon has its own health value. When a Pokémon's health value drops to zero, it loses the ability to fight. When the player's Pokémon defeats the enemy's Pokémon, the player can gain experience points. Accumulating a certain amount of experience points can increase the level. Most Pokémon will evolve when they reach a specific level.

In addition to winning the battle, catching Pokémon is also a major element of the game. When fighting wild Pokémon, players can use Poke Balls to capture them. If the capture is successful, the Pokémon will join the player's team (if the team reaches six, it will be stored on the computer of the Pokémon Center). The factors that affect the success of the capture include the remaining health of the wild Pokémon, whether it is in an abnormal state, and the type of Poké Ball used by the player. The lower the health of the wild Pokémon, making it fall into an abnormal state, or using a higher-level ball, can increase the success rate of capturing wild Pokémon.

game scene

The story stage of "FireRed/LeafGreen" is in a fictional area called Kanto. This is an area in the Pokémon world where many Pokémon live in different geographical environments. There are also towns where humans live and roads connecting the towns. Some areas can only be entered after players obtain special props or let Pokémon learn special moves [5]. Players can catch Pokémon in this area, and Pokémon live in different places such as mountains, rivers, caves, and oceans.

In the alliance, players will fight against the Four Heavenly Kings and the new alliance champion: the player's fierce rivals. In the game, players will also fight against Team Rocket, a criminal organization that abuses Pokémon by stealing and hunting rare Pokémon.

After the player defeats the Four Heavenly Kings and the Champion for the first time, Kona, one of the members of the Four Heavenly Kings, will temporarily return to his hometown "Seven Islands", and then the player will enter this area.
