Basic Info
"Pokémon GO", also known as Pokémon GO, is an augmented reality smartphone game based on location services, licensed by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, and developed and operated by Niantic. It has been released on both iOS and Android platforms since July 2016. Players use the real world as a platform to capture, battle, train and trade "Pokémon". The game adopts a free release and paid props mechanism.
The gameplay of "Pokémon GO" is not very similar to the orthodox works of the series. Players need to capture Pokémon in the game world and train them. The map of the game world is the entire earth in the real world, and the basic data comes from the developer Niantic's previous work "Ingress". For example, the PokéStop and Gym (Gym) in "GO" that can provide players with free props are based on the location data of the Portal on the "Ingress" map. In addition, different Pokémon will be provided in the game for different areas. For example, in areas near water (lakes, coasts, river beaches), the probability of water Pokémon appearing will be higher than in other places. [26] The player's movement in the game is based on the player's position in the real world. For example, the egg hatching system that was previously only available in orthodox works also appears in this game. Players can use the egg incubator after obtaining Pokémon eggs. To hatch the Pokémon eggs provided in "GO", the player needs to walk or move in reality to reach a certain distance before they can hatch successfully and obtain new Pokémon. The gyms in the series also appear in this game. Players from different teams will fight in the gyms. Currently, there are Team Consonance (yellow), Team Wisdom (blue), and Team Wuyong (red).
The game is significantly simplified in many aspects compared to the series canon. For example, to catch a Pokémon in this game, you only need to throw a Poké Ball at it, instead of having to fight first and then catch it like in the orthodox works. (Group battles are still conducted as in the orthodox works, but there is a time limit.) In terms of developing Pokémon, players only need to use candies from the same type of Pokémon to strengthen the abilities of their Pokémon. This is also used to evolve Pokémon in the game, instead of having to reach a certain level like in the orthodox works. The paid content of the game includes the purchase of the in-game virtual currency "PokéCoins" to purchase and upgrade the player's own props in the game, and this currency can also be obtained through defending gyms.
