"Pokémon Sword & Shield" (Japanese: ポケットモンスター ソード·シールド, English: Pokémon Sword & Shield) is a role-playing game developed by Game Freak, published by Pokémon Inc., and sold on the Nintendo Switch platform. It is the eighth generation of the Pokémon series. This game was announced at a Nintendo Direct on February 27, 2019, and was released simultaneously worldwide on November 15, 2019.
On January 9, 2020, the new downloadable content "Pokémon Sword & Shield Expansion Ticket" was announced. The first content "Island of Armor" was released on June 17, 2020, and the second content "Crown of Snow" was released on October 23 of the same year.
