Steam Engine raises the user's Speed by three stages when it is hit by a Fire- or Water-type attack. The attack still deals damage. Stats can be raised to a maximum of +6 stages each.
If a Pokémon with Steam Engine (or Flame Body or Magma Armor) and a Pokémon Egg are both in the party, the number of steps required to hatch the egg is halved.
